  • Old school games were often uneven, arbitrary, sometimes painfully difficult, with rudimentary graphics, bizarre design decisions, and other little nasties. New games are not often very difficult, and the graphics are generally much better, but they're often still uneven and arbitrary, with bizarre design decisions and other little nasties.

I’m not looking for "gaming’s Citizen Kane," but I do like looking at what games do and have done right, and what they don't and haven't done right — where developers have learned, and where they continue to make the same mistakes — and talk about what ticks my boxes and what ticks me off.
